Nixon To Take On Job Of Revitalizing Badly Shaken GOP

WASHINGTON (UPI)—Vice President Richard M. Nixon will take on the job of revitalizing the badly-shaken Republican campaign organization after a fortnight's rest from his own whirlwind effort to minimize this year's Democratic election sweep. GOP sources said Saturday Nixon left Saturday for a quiet Florida vacation which will be a prelude to his late November trip to London—and to more political work.

The vice president was pictured as feeling that his recent nation-wide campaign efforts were well worth the effort even though the Democrats managed to score heavy gains.

MORE TALKS PLANNED

But he was described as determined to take the lead in a soul searching, reshuffling of Republican Party campaign strategy and perhaps personnel in order to put new life into the organization.

Nixon already has conferred with President Eisenhower in a post-election review of the political situation and more conferences are planned with many top Republicans.
