The editor of the Sun is always pleased to note the conferring of honor upon personal friends, but we cannot remember another instance of the kind which gave us more genuine pleasure than when we read of the election of Hon. W. A. MacWilliams of St. Augustine as president of the State Bar Association. His father was our friend in the eighties, and we were among the first acquaintances young MacWilliams formed when he joined his father in Florida, coming here from Maryland.
The attachment then formed between us has lasted to the present day, and as the editor has noted the advancement of his friend in the legal profession as well as political honors conferred upon him by the people of St. Johns county, every such instance has caused his heart to thrill with joy. W. A. MacWilliams is a man it is safe to tie to, something that cannot be truthfully said of every man these days.
