Full Text

A Sly Rat.

In a store in Portland two small insulated wires, such as are used in connection with electric bells or telephones, hang against the wall from the top of a doorway which has been boarded up. The Oregonian says: A sly old rat has a hole at the top of this door, and at night enters the store, and in the morning when the store is opened, makes his way to his den by climbing up the wires. He takes one in each paw, and goes up the wall like a sailor. His agility in climbing has caused him to be made a sort of pet, and he is not molested while displaying his agility. But few can believe that a rat could climb up the wires which hang loose from the wall till they have seen the performance.
