Cholera Morbus in Halifax. The St. Johns, New Brunswick, Colonist, of the 2d September, now before us, contains an article from the Halifax Acadian, by which it seems that two deaths by cholera have occurred there. Would it not be well that vessels from all quarters should undergo the severest scrutiny at quarantine, along the Atlantic seaboard? In the Baltic at this moment, it is raging to an alarming extent; thousands are dying daily, and English vessels are leaving daily, without even a clearance from the Custom House. No endeavors should be lacking, to avert so dreadful a scourge from this Republic. It is possible that the Cholera in Halifax may be merely local. The Acadian says-- "We regret to state that this dreadful malady (the cholera) has made its appearance in town. Within our knowledge two cases have this week produced death, and several other distressing ones have since occurred. We know not of any steps which can effectually guard against the further progress of this disorder, other than precautionary ones on the part of individuals." -- Northern pap.
The authorities of our principal cities have adopted regulations to guard against the introduction of this fearful disorder, but we apprehend there is little prospect of escape if the above be true.
