Pounding Mill, March 8.—Dr. Rex E. Steele is attending a conference of Virginia Veterinary Medical Association at V. P. I. this week, being accompanied to Blacksburg by Wm. Altizer.
The Methodist missionary society met this Wednesday at home of Mrs. R. A. Craig, with the following present: Mrs. W. L. Spratt, Mrs. Julia Williams, Mrs. Hallie McGee. Mrs. J. M. Charles, Mrs. Ella Peery, Mrs. W. E. Porter, Mrs. Wyrene Maxwell, Mrs. Hurley McGee, Mrs. Foote, Mrs. Cline, Mrs. Boothe and Mrs. Rex Steele.
Rev Foote, Methodist minister will preach here Sunday night.
Rev. Curtis Jones preached Sunday night...Mrs. S. E. Barr, Pine Grove, W. Va., began a series of meetings Sunday at Church of God.
Missionary society of Christian church met on last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Will Asbury, with Mrs. Asbury, leader. The following were present: Mesdames W. E. Mulkey, J. L. Ringstaff, H. G. Gillespie. C. H. Robinette, W. B. Steele, A. O. Hilt, S. T. Sparks, Elmer McGee and Miss Charlotte Asbury, and visitors. Next meeting with Mrs. H. G. Gillespie near Claypool Hill,
Mrs. C. R. Ringstaff and Mrs. Andy Mulkey were shopping today in Tazewell.

Miss Hazel Hilt spent week end at her home in Tannersville.
Mrs. John Gillespie and daughter, Miss Catherine Lee, called on their mother and grandmother, Mrs. W. B. Steele Friday night.
Mrs. Ted Luttrell and three children of Indian, spent week end with parents and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Boothe and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pilkins and family.
Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Trayer and daughter, Barbara; and Fred Morgan, of Abingdon; Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Trayer and children, Bluefield, Va., visited Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Trayer and daughter, Miss Peggy here Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Mulkey and 3 children spent Sunday at Maxwell with Mrs. Tiny Trivett.
Mrs. Maggie Lockhart of Indian, is visiting her sister, Mrs. H. S. Ringstaff and reports her sister, Mrs. Lilly Pruett as resting very well this a. m.
Jerry Ringstaff, 5, was poisoned on tomato juice Tuesday and taken to Tazewell for treatment by Dr. Witten.
Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Christian and son, Clytus left Tuesday for a vacation in Tenn., Ala., Fla.
Tom Mulkey, who underwent an operation last week is doing nicely.
Mrs. Hunter Mulkey left this a. m. for a visit with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Musick, Finney.
Miss Mary Ruth Boyd, of Bluefield, W. Va., spent Tuesday with her aunt, Mrs. James Johnson and Miss Mary Gladys.
Mrs. G. B. Wingo, of Indian, spent last Wed. night here with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Johnson on Quarry Hill.
Mr. and Mrs., C. E. Sykes and two daughters, Misses Lora and Esther, visited Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Sykes, at Cleveland, Sunday.
Mrs. Clabe Cochran, of Baptist Valley, visited her sister, Mrs. C. E. Sykes, Monday.
Rev. Curtis Jones gave a talk at the school Wednesday.
The 4-H Club will hear a speaker from V. P. I., Friday. He will speak on "poultry."
