The theme of the meeting was Indians and Indian lore, with Dens 2 thru 7 participating. Each Den had previously chosen a particular Indian tribe to study, and displayed their different handicrafts at the Pack Meeting.
The Cub Scouts explained the various displays to the parents and guests.
The highlight of the evening was an Indian style award ceremony, at which Akela (Andy Downing), and a medicine man, (Jim Young), presented achievement awards to the following boys:
Bobcats - Jose Corales and Stephen Wright;
Wolf - Rick Kushman, Gold Arrow: Michael Legge, Gold Arrow; Frank Sands, Wolf, Gold Arrow and Silver Arrow: David Brunkley, Wolf; Glen Curry, Gold Arrow: Bob Hamilton, Wolf, Gold Arrow and Silver Arrow;
Mike Danziere, Wolf;
Bear - Ray Young.
After the award ceremony, the boys were told Indian stories by Akela, while the parents held the business meeting. New Charter Member Leaders were chosen.
They are:
Cub Master - Andy Downing.
Assistant Cub Masters - Manuel Valdez, Keith Brinkley and L. O. Hamilton;
Institutional Representative A. D. Harney, Ken Knowles and Charles Curry.
Den Mothers - Den 1, Mrs. A. D. Harney; Den 2, Mrs. Betty Fernandez; Den 3, Mrs. J. F. Day; Den 4, Mrs. W. Y. Russell; Den 5, Mrs. Frank Sands; Den 6, Mrs. Randolph Myers; and Den 7, Mrs. L. E. Legge.
When these selections were completed, the Cub Scouts returned to the room to collect their displays and then the meeting was adjourned.
