PRINTER TO CONGRESS.

It will be remembered that Gales & Seaton, of the National Intelligencer, were elected Printers to the House of Representatives, towards the close of the session, by a majority of one vote over F. P. Blair. Editor of the Globe. In the Globe of the 20th inst., is an editorial from the pen of Mr. Blair, presenting a detailed statement of the ballotting on that occasion, and adducing proofs to show that, either through accident or design, an error occurred in the counting of the ballots, and that, instead of Gales & Seaton being elected, on the last ballot, they had, in reality, but ninety-nine votes, while Blair had one hundred! The article in the Globe is too long for us to copy-we can, therefore, advert to but a very few of the facts upon which Mr. Blair relies to substantiate his allegations.

The Globe gives the following as the true vote given to Mr. Blair, by the administration members of the House of Representatives— counting by States:

Of Maine, 6; New Hampshire, 5; New York, 19; Pennsylvania, 14; Maryland, 4; Virginia, 9; North Carolina, 7; South Carolina, 2; Georgia, 4; Kentucky, 5; Tennessee, 8; Ohio, 5; Alabama, 2; Indiana, 2; Illinois, 1; Missouri, 1; Mississippi, 1. Making in all, 95. To these the Globe adds five votes, given Mr. Blair by members, heretofore counted in the opposition, and of which Mr. Blair had conclusive evidence in the subsequent assurances of those members, that they had so voted. Thus the true vote given to Mr. Blair was one hundred; while that given to Gales and Seaton, was but ninety-nine.

There were two hundred and three members in the House, during the last ballotting: and the Globe, to all appearance, clearly establishes the fact, from its own shewing, that there must have been either a miscount through accident or with a design to defraud. It is to be hoped that an examination of the matter will be speedily instituted.
