LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Ghana Independence Day will be celebrated at Lincoln University on Wednesday, March 6, in the University chapel at a Special assembly. A student salute to the new member of the British Commonwealth (formerly known as the Gold Coast) will be followed by the address of the principal speaker of the occasion, Dr. Ibrahim Anis, ambassador of the Sudan to the United States and to the United Nations. Acknowledgement of the salute and address will be made in behalf of Ghana by Chief Nana Boa Amponson II, presently ruler of Denkyia state. Representatives from the U. S. State Department and other government agencies will attend the ceremony. The Oxford Area High School band will provide the music. A color guard of the Oxford VFW will present the colors including those of Sudan and Ghana. Dr. Horace M. Bond, president of the university has been invited to attend Independence Day ceremonies in Africa by the premier of the new state Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, an alumnus of Lincoln. In his absence, Mr Benjamin Schwartz, of the university faculty, will preside over the ceremonies.

Ferguson, have returned from Douglas, Ga. where they visited her brother who is ill. Rev. Robert Adams, Mr. M Irvan, Mrs. Carrie Kimball Mrs Julia Kelly are all ill. Mrs. Anneil Thompson is here from Louisville, Ga. with her cousin Mrs. J. Kelly. Mrs. P. D. Davis. and Mrs. Johnnie M. Rollin visited in Sandersville, Ga. Thursday. Mrs. M. A Jones. and Mrs. N. W Williams visitor in Tennille, Ga. last Wednesday.
