PRACTICE REBEL YELL TO FRIGHTEN GERMANS

QUANTICO, Va., Oct. 12. To put "the fear of God" into Boche hearts, United States marines in training here are practicing the old-time rebel yell.

Confederate veterans, who take keen interest in the activities of the sea soldiers, are teaching the boys their battle cry, reminiscent of civil war days. It is thought that the blending of a cowman's "ee-yah" with blood-curdling whoops of the Seminole will put a "pep" in the marine corps charge sufficient to dislodge the Boches from their trenches.
