About half a million Americans emigrated to northwestern Canada during the past year. That country has developed wonderful possibilities for the homeseeker. The frontier of civilization, which was formerly at Edmonton, is in danger of being driven into the Arctic ocean. Where five years ago only waste land in a supposedly frigid region existed, there now are wheat farms that surpass those of the states. Where beaver dams formerly plugged the rivers there are now steamship lines plying regularly. Stations of the Hudson Bay Company have grown into flourishing cities. It is a wonderful country and when its proposed railroad systems are fully developed it will be a farmer's paradise.
