One of the largest crowds ever assembled in Buchanan county was present last Sunday at Hangar, where the Four-County picnic took place.
Among the speakers on the program were J. H. Simpton, Grundy attorney, Bruce Johnson, attorney of Honaker, Judge A. A. Skeen, of Clintwood.
Tazewell county was represented on the speaking end of the program by Attorneys J. Powell Royal and Garnett Shufflebarger.
The picnic was held for the four counties of Tazewell, Buchanan, Russell and Dickenson.
Congressman John W. Flanagan, was also present and made an address.
Dr. J. P. McConnell, of State Teachers' College, East Radford, made a few remarks and explained to the throng why he felt no fear for the republic's failure.
