Japs Using New Fighter Airplane

HEADQUARTERS, South Pacific forces, Sept. 6. (UP)-Japan is using a new, more heavily-armed fighter plane in the south Pacific in an effort to overcome American aircraft and fliers who are knocking down Nipponese planes at a rate of better than four-to-one, according to reports reaching this headquarters.

The new fighter already has been defeated by marine corps fighter pilots who report that it differs in several respects from the famous Mitsubishi Zero which dominated the Pacific air front in the early days of the war, until Americans learned how to knock it down.
