I see where our one and only slugging first baseman Dick O'Neil is making headline material for the Lakehurst station paper. The team at present is at Norfolk, battling it out to see who will eventually represent the Navy at the 1949 Olympics. I think that Mallory should start wearing turtleneck sweaters on future weekend visits to Medfield. It gets mighty cold UP THERE Mallory. If Bob Travers doesn't take a leave pretty soon, the rest of the boys will send an application for him to the Old Sailors Rest Home. ( )
New faces in personnel are: Albert DeAngelis, BM3 who works at Bldg 111 and Bob Whitacre SN the new driver for personnel. Whitacre was previously a duty driver down at Res Sta. Washington D. C.
The stranger behind the moustache in the Chaplain's Office is none other than the ex-novelist, Phil Hendy. It seems he has lost interest in his novel. I would too, if I received six letters a day from my girl.
* Ed's Note: It won't be necessary fellas. Travers is supposed to take 10-days leave starting 6 Sept.
