Extract of a letter from Mr. James Perkins, dated Cape Francois, Jan. 27, to a gentleman in this town.

"I wrote you two days past since then a frigate has arrived, which has brought 150 Troops, which is part of the 6000 embarked for this place, and which are daily expected."

Extract of another letter of the same date.

A few nights ago, the Negroes made an attempt on this place, but were repulsed immediately and drove over the river, ten were taken and are since hung; some few were killed-- numbers uncertain.

"A Frigate lately arrived from France, in 41 days passage.-- Transports with troops are hourly expected."
