DETROIT, January 11.—The store and stock of groceries, &c., of J. P. Andrews & Co., at Climax, Kalamazoo county, were blown all to pieces last evening by the explosion of 100 pounds of powder. Twelve persons were injured, nine very badly. The loss on the building is $1,000, and on stock $2,000. The clerk was weighing out some powder for a customer, when by some unaccountable accident the powder became ignited and the explosion followed. It is a miracle that nobody was killed outright.
Chas. Gould, Clerk, John Shaffer, the customer who had bought the powder, and Wm. Vanvalkenburg, a laborer, who were standing by, were so badly injured that they will probably die.
