FRENCH WARNS THE MILITIA
Tells Canadian Troops That They Lack Efficiency.

Ottawa, Ont., May 31.—"You did splendid work in South Africa, but if you will uphold your country at home or bring efficient succor to the empire in distant parts of the world far greater efforts and a much higher degree of efficiency and readiness will be necessary to secure success."

This is the warning General French handed to the Canadian militia and Canadians at Montreal, a message says.

The general will visit here shortly and then will go to the Northwest to inspect troops at many centers.
