LOS ANGELES (INS) - The Pittsburgh Pirates plopped three balls over the controversial left field screen at the Coliseum Saturday to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3 to 2, before 16,280 paying customers and 18,000 kids who were admitted free.
All runs in the game were fashioned by "over the fence," Randy Jackson finding the range for the lone Dodger tally.
Dick Groat, R. C. Stevens and Frank Thomas contributed to the Pirate circuit clouts.
Pirate hurlers Bob Friend and Fireman Elroy Face held the Dodgers to seven scattered hits.
