MISSOURI FRUIT CROP.
Every Indication that the Yield Will Be Above the Average.

COLUMBIA, MO., July 22.-From reports received here at the Missouri State Experimental Station it seems that the fruit crop this year, all kinds considered, will be considerably above the average. The apple crop promises to be one of the best that the State has ever produced. From the Iowa line to the Arkansas and from the Mississippi River to the Kansas State line the reports come continually that wherever the orchard was not too full last year and wherever the trees have been taken care of the crop will be good, better than for years. In some instances hail has done slight damage to the apples; in other instances there has been some injury by late frosts, but the injury is local only, and the damage is not severe.

The peach crop will be a general one, but, strange to say, along the line of Neosho, Carthage, and nearly or quite to Springfield, the crop will be very light, while as far north as St. Joseph, the crop will be a full one. In some few locations the trees are slightly injured, but where they were cut back properly they have shown a wonderful vigor and growth. Peaches will be plenty, however, in the State, and the prospect is fair for good prices.

The pear crop will reach the usual average. The prospect for plums is not so good, and they will not be as plentiful as last year. Cherries will be better and more abundant than usual; grapes will reach the usual average.
