QUEBEC (L. C.) January 8.

Yesterday the Legislature convened in this city. His Excellency the Governor in Chief immediately addressed them; and assured them of the prospect, that the late harvest will prove more than sufficient for the consumption of the year. In addressing the House of Assembly, he desires them to provide, in a constitutional manner, the supplies which will be necessary to defray the expenses of the civil government of the province, for the year. [This request is mentioned in the Canada papers, as evidence of the triumph of the popular branch of the government. Formerly, like the old French Parliaments, they were required to grant the supplies.]
