Full Text
Fighting Rats—A fellow from California, called Bill Northrop, has been getting up matches in New York, on a large Norwegian rat, weighing four pounds and three ounces, which he took to that city from California after he had trained it to fight other rats.
After winning several fights against the 'black rat' species of New York, the Norwegian Californian champion was himself whipped, and literally bitten to death, by a New York rat, after a fair 'dog fight' of thirteen minutes.
It was an even contest, up to the last round.
So, with rats as among 'folks' now-a-days, black is the winning color.
