Some of the members of the Pioneers of Wyoming, usually called the Old Pioneer Association, are seriously considering the matter of having a celebration July 23, in commemoration of the laying out and founding of the city of Cheyenne, which occurred twenty years ago. Judge Whitehead, who is the president of the association, states that he is in favor of it, and other members entertain the same view, and such being the case it is quite probable that steps will be taken very soon in that direction. It is presumed that the Union Pacific depot will be completed by that time, and if so the railroad company might see fit to hold some sort of dedicatory exercises on the same day. Should this view be entertained quite an imposing demonstration might be gotten up by the two "visiting teams" on the occasion.
The Pioneer Association is one which is not confined to Cheyenne alone, but its members are found all over the territory, and among its members might be mentioned A. C. Beckwith, of Evanston, and others all along the line of the Union Pacific and some also at Lander, Buffalo and other places in Northern Wyoming.
The late A. R. Converse was a member of this association.
