Full Text

May 22.

The important report of the select committee, it is expected, will be laid before the house this day. Two distinct reports were produced on Monday last, the one drawn up by Mr. Whitbread, the other by Mr. Leycester, the chairman of the committee. The whole of that day, and the greatest part of yesterday, was employed in discussing which of the two should be adopted, under various amendments which were proposed and debated. About three o'clock yesterday, it is understood, the committee came to a final resolution respecting the report, which they intend to make conformable to the orders of the house. There is reason to believe that an impeachment will be immediately moved on the report, which ever of the two may have received the sanction of the committee.
