VOTE OF ROOSEVELT
SCULLY IS STILL GAINING

Congressman Gets Two More Votes Many Ballots Have Been Referred.

Results of the Middlesex county recount in the first poll of Roosevelt indicated that Scully had made a gain of two votes over Carson. Both of the candidates had seven votes referred, making a total of fourteen referred, Scully received 190 and Carson 175. In the original count in this poll of Roosevelt, Scully received 194 and Carson 181. The original count gave Scully thirteen more votes than Carson and the recount figures, not counting the votes referred, give Scully fifteen more than Carson. As the number of votes referred are equal it appears as if Scully had made a gain of two.

Following the startling disclosures in the South River recount much greater interest is being manifested in the recount. As a result of the recount in this place forty-two votes were found in favor of Scully over the original count.

The recount in Middlesex county is about two thirds completed, the two largest cities having been finished. Those remaining uncounted consist of the second district of Roosevelt, Sayreville, South Amboy, South Brunswick, South River, Spotswood and all but one poll in Woodbridge. One poll in Woodbridge was counted out of order so that the vote of Baldwin and Gill might be determined.

The first poll of the sixth ward of Long Branch was counted this morning by the Monmouth County Board Carson and Scully running even in the recount. The original count gave Carson ninety-four and Scully eighty, a majority of fourteen for Carson. The recount figures give Carson eighty-six and Scully seventy-three, a majority of thirteen. The referred votes give Carson eight and Scully seven, a gain of one for Carson which makes up for the loss of one in the actual figures of the recount.

Thus far in Monmouth county forty-nine districts of the ninety-four, have been recounted, it being estimated that it will take two weeks more before the recount in this county will be completed. The average count per day in Monmouth county thus far has been 969 votes.
