Event Details
A superb boat, eighty feet in length, made in India, sent to England in pieces as a present to his Majesty, was launched at Rotherhithe where it was put together by Mr. Bodman and rowed to Richmond. It is shaped like a peacock, most beautifully painted, rowed by men with paddles, with wherries and other small boats rowed on each side to prevent the paint from being rubbed off.
