Full Text

Since the first of the present month there have arrived at the port of Baltimore 1689 emigrants. Of this number, 145 were from Ireland, 26 from Liverpool, and the remainder were Swiss and Germans, who embarked at Havre and Bremen. Very nearly all of them have departed for the interior; in as short a time as their arrangements could be made—a fact that furnishes the best evidence of their industrious character. They are an orderly, hardy and healthy looking people, and with the laborious and economical habits they bring with them, must at once become valuable citizens.—Balt. Amer.
