From a Southern Paper.
It must be obvious to every Newspaper reader, that, since the arrival of the infamous and profligate J. T. Callender, within the United States, each of the Chief Magistrates of the Union has been successively the object of his most malignant invectives--as if the wretch was at war with the office and not the man, and did not the notorious villainy and insignificance of the abandoned sot, place him below the confidence even of our enemies; it might well be suspected, that he was a tool in the hand of some foreign agent, to separate the people from the government. But his blighted character shields him from such suspicions, and compels us to ascribe his indiscriminate invectives to the natural malignity of an infernal heart. It is evident that no description of character or politics, can protect our Rulers from his base assertions. Washington, Adams and Jefferson, are alike the victims of his ferocity. Such a villain would be more dangerous in society, than plague or pestilence, did not the wild extravagance of his falsehoods bear with them their own refutation.
