Federal Sentences Dealt Out To Four Georgia Negroes
EAST ST. LOUIS, ILL.-(NNPA)
-Four colored men, who escaped from a chain gang in Putnam County, Georgia, last April 7, were sentenced to four years each in a federal penitentiary last Thursday after they pleaded guilty of interstate flight to avoid confinement.

They are Tommy Lee Lewis, who was serving three to five years for automobile theft; George Shade, one to two years for burglary: Dallas Scott, four to nine years for shooting another man, and Ollie Young, fifteen years for robbery.
They admitted stealing an automobile in Eatonton, Georgia, shortly after their escape.
They were arrested by East St. Louis police last April 13 in an investigation of purse thefts. Each refused to sign extradition papers to be returned to Georgia.
