HEALTH OF THE CITY.
New York, Aug. 20.-The report of the board of health appeared in yesterday's Gazette, without comment. This body met again yesterday, but had no business before them. We regret that the first report should have gone forth to the world, as it will doubtless give alarm to persons who are absent from the city, and have no means of obtaining positive information on the subject. We can confidently assert that the city of New York never enjoyed a greater share of general good health than it has done this season. Reference to our bills of mortality will bear us out in this assertion. If we were to reason by comparison we could show that the deaths in some of the neighboring cities had averaged during the summer full fifty per cent more than in New York. In conclusion we do most conscientiously assure persons at a distance that there is not, in our opinion, the slightest cause to apprehend from yellow fever, in visiting this city.
