Full Text

NORFOLK, March 28.

Yesterday came on before the Hustings Court, now sitting in this Borough, the trial of THOMAS FOREMAN, for passing Counterfeit notes on the Union Bank of Maryland. The evidence in this case went so conclusively to establish the charge, that the jury had retired but a short time, when they returned a verdict of guilty, and the Court sentenced him to three years imprisonment in the common jail and a fine of One Thousand Dollars.

We hope this salutary example will have the effect of deterring such deluded wretches from further pursuing a course of life, the most despicable known to civil society, and which, sooner or later, is generally detected and punished in a manner which consigns the perpetrators to the most degraded condition of man.
