MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT.

NORFOLK, FEB. 24.—A most deplorable accident happened to a young gentleman in this place on Saturday last, about 11 o'clock, which we mention as a caution to our citizens generally. While passing a store on Main street, a large box was thrown from a window of the third story by a servant who was cleaning out one of the upper rooms. The negro either omitting to give notice to those passing by, or not speaking loud enough to be heard, the gentleman was struck to the ground, and his face so shockingly mangled as in all probability to disfigure him for life—even should no worse consequences ensue. He was almost lifeless when taken from the pavement.
