Full Text

The convention which is said to have taken place between the Duke of York and General Brune, was signed on the 16th of October, by some of the London papers, and by others, on the 18th. The terms are differently stated. The Morning Chronicle of the 22d of October states, that the French demanded the restoration of the Dutch ships: but even this account is not given as genuine. Nothing authentic on this head had transpired at the date of the last English accounts; and from the circumstance of skirmishing having taken place on the 17th and 18th between the out posts, as stated in the London papers of the 24th more than a suspicion is entertained that the supposed convention was either broken between the armies, or never had existed.
