New York, February 24.-A class of ten Chinese youths has been gathered in this city by Mrs. Augustus Carro, formerly of San Francisco. Her principal object is to teach the pupils Christianity; theirs is to learn to read English. They read out of the Bible and other Christian books, and Mrs. Carro adds explanations and suggestions, while at the same time she conscientiously corrects their pronunciation. She is assisted by several other ladies, and when it is possible each Chinese pupil has a teacher assigned to him. They accept the teachings of Christianity with expressions of belief and sympathy. Ah Wing, who studies drawing in the Cooper Institute school of drawing, is Mrs. Carro's chief assistant. It was through him that she was able to bring together so many of his countrymen. They are well dressed, but in Chinese fashion.
