Thirteen sheep of the broad tail, or Tunisian breed, sent to New York by Captain Creighton of the US ship Cyane, obtained from interior of Africa at expense and trouble, to introduce species valuable for wool and flesh. Tail 8-10 inches broad, forms delicate food when cooked. Pair for General Van Rensselaer of Albany. Barrels of finest Mediterranean grape vines and large quantity of garden seeds received from same source. Seeds partly to Horticultural Society of New York; vines distributed in New York vicinity and remainder in Providence, RI. Navy officers using opportunities to add to country's riches and prosperity.
