May 8. Our Letters from all Parts of the Kingdom bring Accounts of the present prevailing Epidemic Disorder, which in some Places has proved fatal, and has been so general as to Seize on People of all Ages and Constitutions.

On Saturday an Experiment was made near Highgate, on the Temperature of the Air, by tying a Piece of fresh Meat to the Tail of a Kite, and then flying it for a considerable Time, when, upon drawing the Kite down again, the Meat appeared quite tainted, and so discoloured, that it was plain some noxious Quality must at present prevail in the Air, to have had such an amazing Effect over it.
