A six round boxing bout is scheduled for Friday, June 8th, 1962 at the Outdoor Theatre in Frederiksted.
The participants are Clarence Lynch, better known as Liston II, & Ramon James a Kid Rakey. The fighters made statements to the press on Wednesday.
Kid Rakey promised a clean fight. Rakey also hopes to see his opponent on the canvas, being counted out fairly early in the bout.
Liston II plans to use his 175 pounds to good advantage. His manager Lionel Fawkes has shown him how to dispose easily of awkward left handers. Both fighters agreed on six rounds for the June 8 fight.
One of the best fighters we've had around here was Kid McBean. We're sure you know him. He's the quiet power packed gentleman who works for Abramson Enterprises David McBean. Ask your dad how he clipped Gualagua's wings.
Speaking of fighters of the past, Sgt. Charles Seales of the Fire Division was a pretty tough customer also. Remember when he scored a TKO over Molan Sarauw? That same night Kid Pando, Seales' Army buddy, also walloped Kid Bandolph Hines.
When Hines was at Camp Tortuguero and Pando at Buc banaan, Hines hoped against hope for a rematch with Pando, but it never materialized.
