Ledbury, Herefordshire, England, the birthplace of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, is about to erect a town hall and clock tower as a memorial to the author of "Aurora Leigh." Mrs. Browning lived at Hope End, Ledbury, the first 20 years of her life, and in the old parish churchyard her father, mother and sister are buried. Robert Barrett Browning, Mrs. Browning's son, still lives in the Rezzonico palace his father bought in Venice, and his idea of a fitting memorial for his talented mother is more poetical than that of the good people of Ledbury. He has converted a little chapel in the old palace into a memorial room, where a Venetian lamp is kept burning night and day.
