LOCAL NEWS.

NEW STEAM SHIP LINE.—The steamship E. C. Knight, E. E. Mulner, Captain, cleared New York for this port on Saturday, the 29th ultimo, and is now ice bound at the mouth of the river. The E. C. Knight is the Pioneer Steamer of the New Steam-ship Company, which has been organized by the merchants of New York and Washington, under the name of the New York, Alexandria, Georgetown and Washington Steamship Company, and will, in the future, make regular trips to this city, Washington and Georgetown. We understand that Mr. Henry C. Winship, a former merchant in this city, has been appointed the agent for the Company at this port.
