Mr. J. C. Bartlett, an employee of the firm of Crowley & Gates, sutlers, was brought to Washington last night in a very feeble condition, having been stabbed in three places in a difficulty near Occoquan on Monday night. A clerk of the firm, named Phillips, is charged with the stabbing, on account of B.'s reprimanding him for bad treatment of a negro. One wound is in the right breast near the nipple, one in the right side, and the third a horrid gash near the right shoulder blade. Phillips fled, and has not yet been found.
