WILLIAMSBURG, Feb. 21.

We have not a syllable of news by the northward post, who arrived yesterday evening; but by some gentlemen who left general Washington's camp about three weeks ago, we learn that col. Charles Scott of the 5th Virginia regiment, being on a scouting party with about 200 men, fell in with much the same number of the enemy, of whom he killed about 30, as was afterwards learned by a deserter; but, upon a large reinforcement coming to their assistance, he was obliged to retreat, after having had the misfortune to lose major RICHARD PARKER, an active and gallant officer, and adjutant Edmund Kelly, a soldier of approved valour, who, when lying on the ground disabled by a wound in both legs, had his brains inhumanly beat out, with the breech of a gun, by a Hessian. We lost about seven private men.
