Still Critically Ill, but Possesses Wonderful Vitality.
The condition of Mrs. Ada Gilbert Dennis showed little improvement yesterday, and last night the patient was reported to be about the same as she has been for several days past. Yesterday Mrs. Dennis took a little nourishment, which served to sustain her from further attacks of weakness, which are now seemingly most dreaded by her physicians.
Dr. Wade H. Atkinson is not ready to relinquish hope for her recovery. He simply states that Mrs. Dennis is in a precarious condition, but that she may rally, because of her wonderful vitality. So far Mrs. Dennis has borne the strain of her wounds well, and only the paralysis, which is quite marked, gives rise to fears for the worst.
The police, it is said, still cling to the theory that Samuel Presley, the printer who committed suicide several weeks ago in an adjoining house to that of Mrs. Dennis, may possibly have had something to do with the murderous assault. It is admitted, however, that no evidence of any kind has been found to verify this belief.
