PRESIDENT MAKES REQUEST IN MEAT INDUSTRY STRIKE

WASHINGTON, April 10.-(R

President Truman asked the striking CIO packing house workers and the major meat companies to renew negotiations in an effort to settle their wage dispute.

The President thus decided, for the time being at least, not to seek an injunction to end the meat industry strike which started on March 16.

no appeal after the White House released the report of an inquiry board analyzing the dispute.

Mr. Truman said that if the parties will study the report with an open mind, it can provide a basis for renewed negotiations looking toward a prompt settlement of the dispute.
