Letter Is Sent To Chairman
of Pension Board
Saturday
Highland, Ohio:- U. S. Representative James G. Polk urged Saturday that the social security board not withdraw federal aid.
In a letter to Arthur J. Altmeyer, chairman of the board, Mr. Polk requested that "some other solution" to the problem be found, "thereby bringing peace to the minds of deserving recipients of aid for the aged."
His letter to Chairman Altmeyer called attention to newspaper accounts of the controversy with the state administration which "do not show cause why the aged in Ohio should be deprived of the benefits provided by congress and by the Ohio general assembly."
"I am not interested in the political ambitions of anyone at the expense of these worthy persons," Mr. Polk said. "I am vitally concerned in the welfare of the people of the Sixth congressional district of Ohio."
