The public will please to observe that the reason why the advertisement of J. Rutherford respecting a note of his held by me has been unanswered till this date, was that I wished first to induce him to submit our accounts to arbitration (not at all doubting the result in my own mind,) to which measure he agreed, each party making choice of a competent person to examine all relative accounts:—after going through an investigation on Monday last, and the arbitrators being about making up the award, he, J. Rutherford requested further indulgence of one day and a half to clear his accounts more fully, which was granted; and on Wednesday the parties met again for business except himself when they were informed by his son, that he, J. R. had started for New York. The award made up in my favor is $222 12.
