Chairmen Confer
With Claunch

Government Secretary Claunch will confer with the Chairmen of the Legislative Assembly, Municipal Council of St. Croix and Municipal Council of St. Thomas and St. John today in connection with the new electoral law for the Virgin Islands which will be considered by the Assembly. Gov. Alexander will be in Tortola on that day with a party of other local officials, attending August Monday festivities.

Mr. Claunch has indicated a willingness to exchange views on the measure in order that a bill that is mutually satisfactory may be agreed upon. Eric Carroll, chairman of the St Croix body, will arrive on Monday morning for the conference which will take place during the afternoon.

Although only one item, the electoral law, is on the agenda for the August 9 Assembly session, it is expected that committees will be organized to study various matters, including new rules of procedure for the legislature.
