Capt. Newbold. late commander of the schooner Seneca, from North America, bound to the Musquito Shore, was taken by Capt. Fernandes, off Port Antonio. on the 3d ult. That in ten days after, the privateer went into Portillo in Cuba, to boot top and trim. and in three days after returned to cruize off the East End of this Island, and has since then retaken a Danish sloop with French produce, taken by the Augusta and Dreadnought : He afterwards took the Brig Neptune, Capt. Underwood, from Rhode Island, bound to Montego-Bay. The privateer goes exceeding well, and in small winds rows very fast ; the Captain is well acquainted with the navigation round this Island, and takes great pains to disguise his vessel to ensnare the Sugar Drogging Sloops, by housing his Guns, and unshipping his Cranes, &c.
