The Brussels Gazette has four accounts of the late defeat of the king of Prussia, viz. one from Vienna of the 16th, and another from the same place dated the 18th of last month; a third from Francfort, and the fourth from Wurtzburgh; by which it appears (taking the affair in the worst light) that the Prussians left near fourteen thousand on the Spot, and the Russians and Austrians picked up more than sixteen thousand wounded, besides four thousand sound men made prisoners; and on the 14th they reckoned already seven thousand Prussian deserters in the Russian camp; So that the whole loss of his Prussian majesty must be about forty thousand men: and moreover, the Russians took 196 pieces of cannon, 20,000 muskets, 300 drums, 12 pair of kettle drums, 9 standards, 25 pair of colours, &c. yet they acknowledge that the Prussian army was not above sixty thousand strong before the battle: and if two thirds of them have been lost (as the Brussels Gazette says) it is surprising that the Russian army has made no progress since its victory: we expect to hear of its advancing to Berlin; but Monsieur Mau- bert is quite silent on this head; it is enough for him to have destroyed the Prussian army, though he does not bring his friends more forward than they were before the battle. The loss of the victors, in killed and wounded, he rates at about 12,000 men.
