The Home and Foreign Mis. Soc. of the Prospect Q. M. adjourned their annual meeting from the Sept. term of the Q. M. to Sat. the 15th of Oct. inst. to meet with the church in Dixmont, Monroe and Newburg. Oct. 15th. The Soc. met at the Manser school-house in Monroe, and elected Eben'r. Allen, Jun. President, J. Howe, Secretary, and D. Smith, Treasurer, and one Director in each Church in the Q. M. A Report of the doings and success of the Soc. from March, 1835, was then read by the Secretary. Much interest was manifested in the meeting in favor of sending the Gospel to the destitute and a number of brethren and sisters felt their hearts filled to overflowing with love to God and the souls of men. In the evening a brother and his companion not far from sixty who had long lived in neglect of the ordinance of baptism, came forward and offered themselves to God and the church. The next day (Sabbath) the solemn ordinance was administered by Eld. Allen in presence of a large, solemn and waiting congregation, while the aged couple came up out of the water, rejoicing and praising God. Since that 15 have been baptized at the same place (Newburg.)
