A congregational reception honoring Dr. and Mrs. C. Lloyd Arehart has been planned for 8 to 9 p. m., Friday at the Farmville Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Arehart assumed his pastoral duties here Monday and will hold his first regular service Sunday morning. He was formerly pastor of the 600-member Presbyterian church at Charles Town, W. Va., and succeeds the Rev. James R. Kennedy, who resigned in May.
Now 47, Dr. Arehart received his A. B. degree from Hampden-Sydney in 1931. He also holds degrees from Union Theological Seminary and the University of Virginia, and has studied at the University of Chicago.
Pastor at Charles Town since 1948, all of Dr. Arehart's charges have been in the West Virginia synod. He is a native of Frankford, W. Va.
He taught Bible and physical education at Glenville State College and had done graduate work in guidance and counselling. Much of his work has been marked with an emphasis upon youth activities.
Dr. and Mrs. Arehart have two children, John Edwin 16, and Mary Frances, 11.
