From the Ledger.

NORFOLK, October 20.

Captain Chace, who arrived in Hampton Roads on Saturday last from Liverpool, on the 12th instant spoke the brig Fame from Rotterdam, bound to Providence, R. I. which she left the 10th September. The capt. of the Fame informed captain C. that for some time before he sailed, the strongest expectations of peace were entertained, but that a few days before he sailed, the prospect was entirely changed; accounts from Paris had been received which banished every hope of peace, and nothing but a continuation of the war was calculated upon.
