Weekly Messenger.

A letter has been received in town from New York, stating that the Editor of the Columbian has been assured by a correspondent at Washington, that intelligence had been received at that city to the following effect, viz that Mr. Walpole had been appointed ambassador by the British government to meet our Commissioners at St. Petersburgh, and the Earl of Aberdeen is appointed to represent the British government in the Congress of Prague. We do not consider the story as entitled to the slightest credit.
